Emma Millar

Emma Millar was born on the 26th of June 1839 in Chesterfield, Derbyshire,
England. She was the daughter of Daniel Holmes and Martha Holmes, she was the eldest of four in her family.
Emma's family were rebel Chartists. In England she
trained to become a seamstress.
She's been married two times before, on the 15th of September 1857-30th of
August 1874 and on the 30th of August 1874-21st of October 1886.
She came to Queensland in 1879 with her husband and children. Emma travelled around
Australia to encouraging men and women to join the Australian workers union. In 1894 a group
of women got together so they could have the chance to vote at the next election.
Sadly she died on the 22nd of January 1917 in Toowoomba, Queensland,
Australia she was 78 years old.
Emma Believed in "one person one vote".
